Women across Canada are posting selfies to show their contribution to harvest.
Started by Tiffany Martinka of Saskatchewan, #WomenofHarvest15 is celebrating the important role women play on the farm. Scroll through the photos and you’ll see a mom running the combine with kids in tow, a daughter helping dad for the weekend, and the teamwork it takes as a family to accomplish a successful harvest.
Those outside the industry are seeing that women have an equal role on the farm, from decision-making to running the equipment. But it’s more than that. It’s showcasing the families that grow the food we eat. It’s raising awareness of the ever-progressing agriculture industry.
This is a great opportunity to dispel common ag myths and tell the real, positive story of Canadian agriculture. If you haven’t already, share your #WomenofHarvest15 photo, just like Katelyn Duncan did.
And who knows, you might even inspire a young woman to follow her dreams and take over the family farm, or a farm woman to proudly change her title to farmer.

And if sharing a photo isn’t for you, you can still search the hashtag to see the stories, and find like-minded women in ag to follow.
