I was born in Outlook, SK and raised in Assiniboia, SK. We didn’t live on the farm but my love for the farm was strong so whenever I had the chance to go to my grandparents farm which is an hour away I took it. I started working more on the farm when I was around the age of 7, doing odd jobs whether it was helping my dad and grandpa outside or helping my grandma around the house. I developed a stronger love for agriculture when I met my boyfriend Ryan in 2009. After I graduated high school in 2010 I went to school at Lakeland College and got my Crop Technology Diploma in 2012. I am now working in Agromony and Sales and loving my job. I can’t wait to get into the fields and start scouting! I do whatever I can to help out on Ryan’s family farm as well as my dad’s farm. My favourite job is to combine. Ryan and I have 50 head of cattle now with some pasture land and we enjoy what we do. I love the prairie scenery and priceless time I get to spend here with family and friends!
For Chris Renwick, farming isn’t just his career. It’s part of his family’s legacy. And continuing that legacy is a profound source of pride for this seventh-generation farmer.
Jill Burkhardt’s reason for being a proud agvocate is simple: she couldn’t imagine her life without being involved in agriculture.
To say that Amy VanderHeide has a lot on her plate would be quite an understatement.
