Share your stories of sustainability and conservation

With Earth Day quickly approaching on April 22, this is the perfect time to tell the world all the great ways we protect the land on our farms.

While a lot of the sustainable actions we take on the farm are simple, common sense approaches, they do add up to having a significant positive impact on the environment.

In fact, a recent Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) study found that 95 per cent of Canadian farmers are taking action to protect the environment. That’s a reality we need to share.

If you’re wondering what types of stories to highlight from your operation, here are a few ideas to consider:

  • water protection/conservation
  • recycling/proper disposal of chemicals
  • soil conservation
  • waste management
  • precision farming
  • changes in production cycles to reduce fuel consumption

While a lot of these efforts may seem small, the impacts are enormous – and these types of actions are happening every day on thousands of farms right across the country.

If you’re looking for further inspiration, check out these examples from the Dairy Farmers of Canada and CleanFARMS.

Let’s get in on this year’s Earth Day conversations. You’ve got a great story to tell. Add your pictures and stories of sustainability to your favorite social media channel today using #AgMoreThanEver.
