There are so many positive ag stories out there – and so many ways to share those stories! And because the conversation never stops, it’s important to get into the habit of contributing regularly.
In his recent webinar, titled “How to get in on the tough ag and food conversations,” writer, speaker and dairy farmer Andrew Campbell recommends doing one act of agvocacy once a week. That may seem like a tall order, but it’s actually pretty easy. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
- Tweet a great ag picture
- Email a YouTube video
- Share a Facebook update
- Write a letter to the editor about an issue you’re hearing about in the news
- Call a school – offer help or to speak to a class
- Sponsor an education program
- Start a conversation with a stranger
There’s so much you can do, and it’s so important. We all have a voice to add to the discussion, and we all have an opportunity to have a positive impact. There’s an old quote that says “I used to wonder why somebody didn’t do something. Then I realized I was somebody.” That couldn’t be more true when it comes to speaking up for ag.
